Watermark Press is the only fine art printmaking studio in Connecticut that is dedicated to safer studio practices by providing a solvent-free, non-toxic and environmentally safe workspace for artists of all ages and abilities. No prior printmaking experience is necessary, and anyone is welcome to come and explore producing original art through printmaking. A range of classes and workshops are offered in intaglio, monotype, relief printing and the book arts. Special arrangements can be made for children’s classes, groups, and private instruction. The studio offers a wide variety of contemporary printmaking methods that enable lower class/workshop fees, as these techniques are inexpensive when compared to traditional routines that require metal plates, acids, solvents, and specialized tools and equipment. The contemporary printmaking techniques advocated by Watermark Press are rapidly gaining popularity as astonishing artistic results are being produced without the risk and expense of traditional methods. While we provide Akua water-based inks for various intaglio, monotype and relief printmaking processes, Watermark Press members and guests can also use other oil-based inks cleaned up with non-solvent methods.
